The rapper’s lawyers have told bosses at Cuff-Daddy.com – a family-owned cufflink company – that the business’ name was to similar to the star’s former moniker, Puff Daddy.
But bosses at the company insist they are not trading on his name and hope to resolve the issue with the star’s legal team, reports TMZ.com.

Many folk have asked me the best way to store cufflinks. Unfortunately even the highest quality cufflinks can chip and scratch when they are stored incorrectly. Let’s see – can I guess how most people store their cufflinks?

In a box or draw with their old cigarette lighters, coins from Asia, 20 year old cufflinks and their old healthcare cards? Yep, all rattling around together.

Well that’s a sure way of ruining your cufflinks. There are two main ways to store cufflinks to avoid damaging them.

1. Simply keep them in the box they arrived in. I’ve never seen cufflinks arrive in anything other than a cufflink box and they are perfect to keep your cufflinks in perfect condition.

2. A step up from this is to purchase a cufflink storage box however these are very expensive. They can make a great gift and are especially useful for men and women who have a number of watches as well.

The moral of the story is not to throw out your cufflink boxes. Oh, and if you need some more, email me at stuart.atkins@cufflinked.com.au – I’ve got loads!

Cufflinks are making a HUGE comeback. Only 10 years ago French Cuffed shirts were very expensive and the only time you’d wear cufflinks is if you were getting married. Now it’s all changed. CuffLinks are a total fashion statement and come in a range of colours and materials. Silver cufflinks, gold cufflinks, diamond cufflinks, quirky cufflinks – even novelty cufflinks are allowing men and women to complete their fashion statement.

So where did Cufflinks originate? I’ve done some research and hope you find this information on cufflinks interesting.

A cufflink (also cuff link or cuff-link) is a decorative fastener worn by men or women to fasten the two sides of the cuff on a dress shirt or blouse.

Cufflinks are designed only for use with link cuffs (also known as French Cuffs or double cuffs), which have buttonholes on both sides but no buttons. These may be either single or double-length (“French”) cuffs, and may be worn either “kissing,” with the ends pinched together, or “barrel-style,” with one end overlapping the other. Kissing cuffs are usually preferred.

Cufflink designs vary widely. The simplest design consists of a short post or chain connecting two disc-shaped parts. The part positioned on the most visible side is usually larger; a variety of designs can connect the smaller piece: It may be small enough to fit through the button hole like a button would; it may be separated and attached from the other side; or it may have a portion that swivels on the central post, aligning with the post while the link is threaded through the button-hole and swiveling into a position at right angles to the post when worn.

The visible part of a cufflink is often monogrammed or decorated in some way. There are numerous styles including novelty cufflinks, traditional cufflinks, contemporary cufflinks, utility cufflinks, and humorous cufflinks.

An alternative fastener to a cufflink is the cheaper silk knot, which are also known as monkey’s fists (more properly known as a turk’s head) . The ParisCharvet is credited with their introduction in the beginning of the 20th century: “Charvet [link] buttons of twisted braid are quite the style” noted the New York Times in 1908.[1] French cuff shirts are often accompanied with a set of color-coordinated silk knots instead of double-button cufflinks. They are now rarely made from silk; often they are made from elastic. shirtmaker

The History of cufflinks goes back to the Middle Ages where its precursor, the ‘cuff string’, adorned the wrists of fashionable gentlemen of the day. One of the earliest references to what we now recognize as cufflinks was made in the London Gazette of 1684, which referred to a pair of cuff buttons set with diamonds; the same journal in 1686 also described a pair of gold enameled cuff buttons. More evidence of the existence of cufflinks in the 17th century was found in Suffolk, England, where a decorated gold single chain cufflink was discovered.

Despite its early appearance, the continual taste for adorning sleeve ends with elaborate wrist ruffles meant it was not until the mid-nineteenth century that the cufflink really came into its own as dandy-ish ruffles gave way to functionally minimal sleeves and in particular the arrival of the French CuffDouble Cuff), or as the French themselves called it poignet mousquetaire – the musketeer’s cuff, paving the way for the emergence proper of cufflinks. (also called the

Initially confined to the upper echelons of society, by the 1860’s cufflink grew into the mainstream as jewelers like Child & Child in London and Krementz & Co in New York brought out cufflinks that were within the price range of the wider public.

It’s fair to say that gold cufflinks are out. Unless youare a 55+ year old man with grey receding hair and a fairly large belly who also wears shorts to work! Seriously, the trend is all about a silver base with bold colours.

Irregular cufflinks are also trendy – that is, large circles or rectangles with linear designs are proving to be very popular at www.cufflinked.com.au.

Swarovski crystal cufflinks are also hot with big bold colours. Even hot pink for men against a nice blue shirt is quite a bold look…risky for some but cool for others.

Look for cufflinks with a strong clasp and more than 1 colour – 3 colours make them much more versatile and means you can wear them with more than one shirt!

Hi friends,
Well, www.cufflinked.com.au has been ‘open’ for almost 2 weeks and what a great ride it’s been so far. I thought I might give you an update as to my activity…
1. I’ve conducted some mass marketing via facebook to drive traffic – the jury is still out on this
2. Of course Google Adwords has been very fruitful so far in terms of new uniques…not cheap but certainly necessary
3. I’ve started to build relationships with similar businesses to swap links on each others site to improve SEO rankings
4. I’ve established a relationship wtih www.freagel.com.au – really interesting model where you give free products to people who use their search engine – they don’t pay for anything and I assume Freagle make lodas out of search marketing
5. I’ve managed to get www.cufflinked.com.au loaded up on a nuber of free business and internet listing sites which will assist the rankings.

OK so the outcomes? I should share these numbers just now as I don’t want my competitors to know…however let’s just say I am around 300% better off than I expected after 2 weeks! Until next time.

Wow. it’s been a big 4 days since launch. Here’s a snapshot of activity.
1. I’ve sold 30 sets of cufflinks so far
2. www.cufflinked.com.au is now stocking cufflinks in Williamstown and Moonee Ponds. I knew nothing about wholesale and have now had to learn EVERYTHING
3. You need a good solid network of friends and contacts and I am fortunate to have this…word of mouth has seen over 500 unique visitors in the first three days!
4. It’s really difficult to turn off the pc and go to bed…or to not wake up at 4am and fire the pc up to see who’s ordered etc. I am not going well in this area!

I’ve learned so much this week I am considering blogging on the good and bad aspects of starting a web business. I have to say though – it’s been a fantastic week and I’ve never been so committed to something in a working sense for a long time. Check out the site at www.cufflinked.com.au and let me know what you think.

I hear this one quite often – should I wear a set of cuff links on a usual bottun down shirt? There’s a couple of schools of thought.

Firstly, can you wear them on this style of shirt? Yep, absolutely. Most have a hole sewn into the shirt next to the button which allows for a cuffllink clasp to pass through.

However, this is not how the shirt is designed to be worn therefore often the cuff appears quite loose and ‘floppy’.

10 years ago it used to be very expensive to buy French – cuffed shirts. Usually around $100 AUD would see you with a decent shirt. But over the past few years the french – cuffed shirts have become far more affordable. In addition, most formal, black tie shirts actually do not allow you to button down the cuffs, so you need to have some cufflinks to hold the shirt together!

My thoughts are – if you have a nice set of cufflinks, you really should invest in a good quality french cuffed shirt to complete your look. And of course, if your event is formal, it is expected to have a classic silver / black set of cufflinks to complete the look. And don’t forget to polish your shoes!

Check out our range of classical and stylish cufflinks at www.cufflinked.com.au

I’ve recently heard a friend suggesting that cufflinks are old school and no longer trendy. Mmm, hard for me to take given I run www.cufflinked.com.au! Either way, I thought I’d throw out the pros and cons for you to consider – are cufflinks cool?
Against:
Cufflinks are difficult to thread through those little holes in french cuffed shirts. Ok, fair enough.
Cufflinks are no good unless you have a french cuffed shirt. Again, fair. But ask any lady you know whether they would prefer a french cuffed shirt over a standard button cuff. (OK, I won’t argue with any other points).
Cufflinks are expensive
Cufflinks are hard to find
